Rihanna Meets Boyfriend Matt Kemp's Family

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Things must be getting serious.

Rihanna traveled to Arizona to meet boyfriend Matt Kemp's family this weekend, but this was no ordinary trip. The singer flew in all the way from Berlin on Saturday just so she could attend Kemp's charity bash, Ante Up for Autism. The L.A. Dodgers outfielder is very close to the cause as his brother is autistic.

She had performed at the Echo Awards in Berlin on Thursday but then hopped on a plane shortly after. "Matt was happy she came," says an inside source on Rihanna making it to the event. "It was an awesome show of support."

Besides the other pro baseballers in the house Saturday evening, Kemp's family also attended, and they met Rihanna for the first time. "Rihanna fit right in as if they all knew each other. It was comfortable."

The fundraising gala kicked off with Vegas-style gaming and cocktails, a live and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing. The second-annual event raised $170,000 with only 150 people in attendance.

Rihanna's next scheduled performance is in L.A. at the Kid's Choice Awards on March 27.

Rihanna Goes Gio-Goi

Clothes label Gio-Goi’s stable of famous fans is starting to look like a dream festival line-up.

Rihanna is the latest star to wear the rock’n'roll clobber, following fellow singers Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and more.

Rihanna modelled for brothers Anthony and Chris Donnelly as part of a plan to take the brand to America. A New York shop is already on the cards. The singer had the lads round to her London hotel last week, posing in nothing but a cap and puffa.

Rihanna Working On 'Feel-Good' Album With Sean Garrett

Little Miss Sunshine is coming back. After a brief trip to the dark side, Rihanna is about to brighten up the airwaves once again with a new album. Sean “The Pen” Garrett spills the details to Rap-Up.com.

With her current single “Rude Boy” climbing the charts, the Rihanna reign shows no sign of letting up. The pop princess is capitalizing off the momentum with the feel-good follow-up to November’s Rated R.

According to Garrett, the project is already underway. “I got a record on Rihanna’s new album,”“She’s got some surprises.”

After a tumultuous 2009, the singer is back in a good place with her fifth studio album. “The record I gave her was very, very positive, very big. It’s a fucking smash,” adds Garrett. “I gave her a humongous radio record. It’s just so infectious. It’s about getting past any drama and just being happy to be alive. It’s an encouraging record. It feels great and it’s got great tempo.”

Like some fans, he was surprised to hear the dark theme surrounding RiRi’s latest effort. “Whenever I think of Rihanna, it makes me happy. To be honest, I wasn’t really that excited about hearing her in a dark zone. I love Rihanna for being that girl… She’s like the lil’ fantasy chick—nice brown skin, beautiful woman with a Caribbean swagger that’s ridiculous.”

The man who’s penned hits for Beyoncé and Usher is confident his contribution will keep Rihanna at the top of the charts. “I made sure that it was bulletproof. It should be a single unless something crazy happens. It’s hot as fuck. I think it’s a record that’s gonna stay on the radio for a long time.”
reveals the hitmaker.

Jasmina’s Mother Denies Writing Tweet Against Rihanna

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The mother of Jasmina Anema, the 6-year-old girl who died of leukemia in January, is distancing herself from a Twitter post questioning Rihanna's motives in befriending her daughter – but says it would have been nice to hear from the singer when her daughter passed away. In an e-mail to PEOPLE, Thea Anema denied writing the message herself, but said she is disappointed not to have heard from Rihanna, 22, since Jasmina passed away on Jan. 27. "Friends have helped me with all kinds of stuff and many know the passwords to my personal e-mail, the Caringbridge site and also Twitter," Anema wrote. "Although I did not Tweet this particular one, I do wish that Rihanna had responded to me on Jasmina's passing. It would have meant the world to me." Still, Anema says she is grateful for everything Rihanna did for Jasmina.

"Jasmina adored her," she writes. "Rihanna was so kind to come and visit her. I just felt hurt not hearing anything from her. Or of any other celebrities for that matter. The only ones who reached out to me personally during this time of grief were the Obamas."

Friends of the singer have come to her defense. One source close to Rihanna tells PEOPLE: "She really loved this little girl. It was hard for her to deal with a child passing away, especially a little girl she had come to care for so much." Days after Jasmina's death, Rihanna remembered her fondly, telling the AP, "She was a very free, fun spirited little girl, full of energy, always happy, always energetic." "I always remember she wouldn't sit still. She was always running around, always had a smile on her face." In April, Rihanna is set to appear in PSAs for DKMS Americas, an organization she's worked for since 2007. It is the world's largest marrow donor center, which helps leukemia patients. In a statement, DKMS co-founder Katharina Harf said Rihanna's work for the cause is hardly a publicity stunt.

"Last year she recruited over 5,000 bone marrow donors to DKMS – resulting in lives saved," Harf said. "She is relentless in her campaign to help children in the fight against leukemia and continues to urge her fans and people around the world to register with DKMS."

Rihanna's AOL Sessions Interview

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

AOL: Congratulations on winning two Grammys for ‘Run This Town Tonight.’ How did you celebrate? Were you surprised to win?
Rihanna: After the Grammys, we went out to [label executive] L.A. Reid and Jay-Z’s dinner. They hosted a dinner together and then we went to drinks [at an] after party at a club. We had a blast. It was very much a surprise to win because the Grammys are really tricky. It’s difficult to win one, so you have to go into it not expecting to win so it’s always a pleasant surprise. And we were definitely pleasantly surprised.

AOL: Where do you keep your Grammys?
Rihanna: Well, when I get them [laughs], I have to find a nice little special place for them.

AOL: Where do you think is a good spot?
Rihanna: I haven’t figured it out yet. I just bought a new home and was still working on getting it furnished and put together and all the renovations, so when I move in I’ll figure it out. It has to be a special spot.

AOL: You hung out with Taylor Swift on Grammy night. Any advice for her?
Rihanna: Well, giving advice to someone like Taylor Swift, she’s such a sweetheart, you know. She’s very humble and she has a great work ethic, but she’s also truly talented and an amazing songwriter as well. She’s in good hands. She will do well as long as she remains exactly who she is, doing the type of music she loves.

AOL: Would you like to collaborate with her?
Rihanna: I would love to collaborate with Taylor Swift. She’s amazing. She has an unbelievable voice.

AOL: A fake collaboration between you and Lady Gaga made the rounds last year. When are we going to see a real one between you two?
Rihanna: A collaboration between Gaga and myself would be really cool because we do a similar type of music and we both really love fashion, so I’m sure it’ll be a hot video. I would love to collaborate with her.

AOL: You’re such a fashion trendsetter already. Who do you feel is the person that’s really setting the trends?
Rihanna: Actually, when I’m getting dressed, I’m really inspired by first my mood and the occasion. Every time you see me it’s a different color, a different shape, a different style because really, we just go off of instinct. Whatever we feel, at that very moment, we just go for it.

AOL: What creative outlet does fashion give you that singing does not?
Rihanna: Fashion is another world for me to get my creativity out. Singing is a career, you know. I love it — it’s a passion. Fashion, on the other side, I don’t work in fashion and that world is something that I enjoy. I enjoy music also, but it’s more liberating because you get to display how you feel inside with clothing. It’s another way for me to be creative in a fun way.

AOL: You said you aren’t in the fashion business, but do you want to be? Everyone’s waiting for you to start some kind of fashion line.
Rihanna: Yes, I’m not in the fashion business yet, but a fashion line is something that’s on my list. It’s something that I’m really passionate about and I would love to get into.

AOL: What else is on the list?
Rihanna: On the list, next, is tour. We start the tour this spring in April. We start in Europe and it’s gonna be a world tour. So it’s gonna be long, but I can’t wait.

AOL: What can people expect from that?
Rihanna: Well, we’ve never done a tour to this capacity, which I’m very excited about. The production is unbelievable. The costumes, we just took it to a whole another level. Visually and sonically it’s going to be a big step up from the last time. We just keep growing every time and this time it’s going to be a massive, massive production that I cannot wait for.

AOL: Is it daunting or comforting to know where you’re going to be several months from now?
Rihanna: When I look at my schedule, I like to know what’s next. We go over the calendar, we kind of go through the months roughly, but then we go into detail and the minute it starts breaking down into the times of every day, it’s a little overwhelming. I prefer not to look at it. Sometimes my assistant would say, “Okay, tomorrow you have this and this and this, but then the next day?” and I’m like, “Whoa, tomorrow is enough.” It’s a little overwhelming at times, but it is my life and I love it.

AOL: Let’s talk about ‘Rated R.’ Do you feel like people understand what you’re trying to do?
Rihanna: Definitely. When we first made ‘Rated R,’ I kind of braced myself, prepared myself for it to be a culture shock to people’s ears, especially my fans, who are used to the type of music that I have been doing so far. I knew it would have taken a while before people got into it and got into the new music, the new sound, the new look, and now people are getting it and it’s the best feeling. The album is doing really well all over the world, and that’s the best revenge.

AOL: Is the girl that sang ‘Umbrella’ gone?
Rihanna: No, I’m the same girl that sang ‘Umbrella.’ It’s me, Rihanna, and I just grow. When I did ‘Umbrella’ I was 19 and now I’m about to be 22 years old. There’s a lot that changes in three years and I’m looking forward to what’s next.

AOL: Do you want to do movies and if so, what’s your ideal role?
Rihanna: Movies are definitely something that I want to get into soon. My ideal role, I actually love comedy. I’m pretty much like a prankster so that’s the whole new world that I’d love to venture off into. But action and stuff like that, things that are cool, comic book movies — stuff that’s interesting.

AOL: Do you have a role in mind? Do you want to play an action hero?
Rihanna: Who knows? Whatever they throw my way, I’ll take it.

Rihanna Says Next Album Will Be "More Energetic"

Rihanna has had a difficult past 12 months in the aftermath of her assault by Chris Brown. But the “Hard” superstar has endured, by being both outspoken about her experience in hopes of helping others and by channeling her experience into Rated R, her most rounded effort to date. She told MTV News last year that she “vented” on the project.

Don’t expect her next album to be as dark as Rated R, though.

Rihanna said the follow-up, which has no timetable set yet, will be less intense. “Rated R, I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass,” Rihanna explained. “I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, up-tempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.”

Rated R was inspired mostly by Rihanna’s ordeal in the wake of her and Brown’s breakup. The singer was the subject of media headlines worldwide. She kept away from the spotlight after a brief reunion with Brown following their altercation. But when Rihanna returned, she had an album that chronicled her months away from the glare.

“This album is an expression of all those feelings that I went through in the last eight months, just different emotions,” she said shortly after Rated R’s release. “All of it isn’t angry, all of it isn’t dark and sad, ’cause I didn’t go through that the whole time. That was part of it. It was really a roller coaster, and you get that when you’re listening to the album.”

Rihanna Says Lady Gaga Is Not A Style Rival

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Rihanna is frequently spotted on red carpets wearing outfits that a sane person would politely describe as "wacky", but she insists there's no rivalry with Lady Gaga — aka the Queen of Wacky Outfits.

"I could never wear anything that Lady Gaga wears," the 'Rude Boy' singer told MusicFIX during her recent jaunt to Australia. "It works for her because that's her. It'll look pretty silly on me!"

"The only way I succeeded was by being myself and not really look at who else is out there or trying to compete with them," she added.

Rihanna also reveals that even though she's a megastar, she's really just a normal girl who loves normal things — like watching TV, cooking, and dancing around at home in her underwear.
