Beyonce revisits the era of ‘Survivor’ by rocking the camouflage pants and the ever popular Christian Louboutin ‘Ariella studded shoes’. She looked cute and relaxed as she blissfully chilled out with hubby Jay-Z, court-side at Wednesday night's Lakers vs Mavericks game in Dallas, Texas. If you’re wondering why she is laughing so much it’s because the Mavs were playing a skit which involved her monster hit "Single Ladies".

The Blueprint 3 is still paying off for Jay-Z, but the music mogul is already on to the next one.
Mr. Carter tells The Associated Press that he has started thinking about his twelfth studio album. “Maybe after I finish [the 'BP3'] tour I’ll start another album,” he reveals, adding, “Maybe at the end of the year. We’ll see if the inspiration hits me.”
But for now, he’s concentrating on perfecting the second leg of his arena tour. “I’ve been working on my live show for 10 years now, just trying to get it better and better. I used to come out with just a DJ, now I got a band. The production’s gotten bigger and the lighting guy takes off his shoes and he plays to the beat,” he laughs. “The whole thing is being upgraded every single year.”
The Blueprint 3 tour makes its next stop in New Orleans on Thursday with supporting acts Young Jeezy and Trey Songz.

Jay-Z tells British host Jonathan Ross that he has a fan in the Oval Office.
The rapper, who supported Obama during the presidential campaign, says he’s been invited to the White House “a couple of times” but has been busy with touring, adding, “Hopefully we’ll keep him in for eight years, so I’ll have eight years to get there.”
Jay shared that when he’d called the president, Obama was playing his album, The Blueprint, in the gym!
As for whether he’d ever heard Obama freestyle rap, Jay laughed and replied, “No, I don’t want him to do that.”

Monday, January 25, 2010 The Knowles-Carters are still traveling around Europe. They were spotted arriving into the Nice, France airport this weekend (does this mean they’re about to take their annual South of France vacay?) holding…weird orange balls. Or are they oranges?
Seems like Hov and B were trying to trick the paparazzi because upon first glance it looks like they’re showing the very rare affection of holding hands. But nope. Why orange balls though?

Jay defends his “Run This Town” collaborator Kanye West in the February issue of Interview magazine. The accompanying article does a thorough job of questioning Hov about the ups and downs of the industry, including the perils of rapping after 40 and his dismay at Eminem having to wear a bulletproof vest, but when talk turns to Kanye’s VMA debacle – Hov holds it down for Yeezy.
MITCHELL: Sometimes his passions ruin him.
JAY-Z: Yeah, which is great. I like that, man! I really do. I mean, no one’s walking around here perfect. Everyone’s gonna make mistakes. That’s part of how you learn. I think Kanye...Well, I know he said what he believed. He was telling the truth.
MITCHELL: To which event are you referring?
JAY-Z: I’m talking about the Taylor Swift thing. I just think the timing of what he did was wrong, and that, of course, overshadowed everything. He believed that “Single Ladies” [by Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé] was a better video. I believed that. I think a lot of people believed that. You can’t give someone Video of the Year if they don’t win Best Female Video. I thought Best Female Video was something you won on the way to Video of the Year. But, hey, I guess it wasn’t—and that’s a whole other conversation about awards shows and artists.
MITCHELL: You’ve always had interesting takes on awards shows. I remember back in the day, you talked about the Grammys and said, “Well, they don’t take rap seriously, so why should I go? They don’t know what we do—and they don’t care about what we do.”
JAY-Z: It’s just honest, man—they really didn’t. I’ve always seen awards shows for what they are. For the awards show people, it’s about sponsorships—it’s not about recognizing anyone’s art, because if you get into the business of recognizing art, then you have to get it right all the time. You have to get it right. You can’t have the woman who wins Video of the Year not win Best Female Video. I mean, Herbie Hancock is great, but you can’t have him beat the Kanye album that year. I mean, come on, seriously. That can’t happen. That just lets me know that the people who get to pick these ballots just check the only name they know. I think that’s what’s happening with rap music now.
MITCHELL: Yeah?
JAY-Z: I think it’s a bunch of people who don’t know anything about rap, and have probably never even heard a Kanye West album, are doing the nominating, and they say, “Kanye West. I know that name. That’s the guy who made the comments about the president that time! He’s nominated!” That’s how the process works, and I think that’s part of Kanye’s frustration. Me, I look at it for what it is. But Kanye is so passionate about it. I mean, the guy shot three “Jesus Walks” videos. Three. Two of them he shot with his own money just so he could get it right. He really cares about it. And then, back to the original point, his passion kicks in and he takes things too far . . . He doesn’t realize that that girl, Taylor Swift, is just like him. That was her moment. It wasn’t her fault. She didn’t do anything. It’s not her awards show. So he just did the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time.

There’s been a lot of talk about Jay’s video containing Freemason imagery such as the horned animal head, an eagle and skull. What are your thoughts about such talk and why do you think music fans are so quick to believe a conspiracy narrative?
I’m aware of the stir the video has caused and what people are saying. I think when you’re dealing in abstract imagery people are going to want to draw lines between things and make sense of it. However, I’ve always felt that the viewing public was, in general, extremely visually literate. They don’t always want or need things to be spelt out for them. One of the great things about music videos are they can be enjoyed purely visually—it doesn’t need to mean anything or make any sense. Conspiracy theory is another thing entirely, and seems to me to be about projecting pre-existing beliefs and desperately looking for things that confirm them. There is imagery in this video that is drawn from all over the place. None of it is owned by any one culture or belief system. You can connect anything if you try hard enough, and make it mean anything you want it to.
So what was the overall direction Jay was looking for?
He gave me a very loose brief, and made it clear that we should be progressive with the video. All the imagery was thought up by me and was a response to the track itself. For those interested, the idea is actually about a funeral for old imagery and ideas, hence all the gothic and oppressive stuff. I was also trying to contradict the excess of hip-hop videos by making something brutally simple and claustrophobic.

Even a snowstorm couldn’t stop the Rihanna reign. Little Miss Sunshine warmed up New York City’s frigid Rockefeller Center on Saturday with a pre-taped performance of her hits for “NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly.” She was joined by Jay-Z on “Run This Town.” The New Year’s Eve special will air on Thursday, December 31, beginning at 10 p.m.

Jay-Z and friends partied it up in the Dominican Republic for his 40th birthday this weekend. And our party insider gave us the deets on the lavish intimate bash–complete with synchronized swimmers and an A-List celeb filled guest list–that went down Friday night.
Beyonce arranged every detail of the party at Campo de Casa. The dinner party Friday night was elegant and everyone was asked to wear 1920’s or 1940’s era frocks. Beyonce asked Jay’s friends to shoot a video that was played at dinner telling Jay how they felt about him. We’re told Kevin Liles shot his mushy BFF speech weeks before the bash back in the states.
After dinner there were synchronized swimmers and fireworks. Then the party REALLY started with Jay was dancing the whole night…and Diddy in his usual place on the mic the whole night.
Our source dished to YBF, “That it was one of the best parties I’ve been to my entire life. Small but filled with ppl who love Jay.”
By the way, the guest list was packed with Mr. Carter’s close friends and family: Diddy & Kim Porter, Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz, Kanye & Amber Rose, Solange, Lyor Cohen & Tory Burch, Alex Rodriguez & Kate Hudson, Steve Stoute, Micheal Kyser, Dream Hampton, Rich Kleinman, John Menilly, Ty Ty, Jay Brown, and Chaka and Carline. And of course, Jay’s mother-in-law Miss Tina and cousin Angie were there too.
And the Beyonce’s good wife duties didn’t end there. The next day, Saturday, Beyonce invited everyone over to the couple’s villa for a lobster and steak brunch. Now that’s love.

Earlier this month Questlove, the drummer and producer from The Roots, was reportedly doing everything in his power to get Jay-Z to come on board as a producer of the Broadway musical Fela!, based on the life and music of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti (on which Quest is an associate producer).
Jay-Z, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have signed on as lead producers of the show, which is choreographed and directed by Bill T. Jones and opens a week from today at the Eugene O'Neil Theater. In related news, Jay-Z has cancelled the remaining 2009 dates of his 'Blueprint 3' tour. The rapper's camp claim the cancellations were caused by a scheduling conflict and refunds would be available for fans.
